These plants represent a story of love and hope.
In the cold Montreal winter of 2010 I found this plant discarded on the side of the street with a pile of garbage. It was almost 7am and I had to get to work but I decided to rescue it and bring it inside. I rooted it in a bucket of water in my bathtub. My curious cat Tequila ate most of the leaves. I potted it in June 2010 and it was growing to be a beautiful plant.
Sometime around September 2012, one of my roommates accidentally kicked it while climbing my balcony and the plant was beheaded- chopped right in half!
So once again, I took the top of the plant and rooted it for months in a bucket of water. I planted in it a sweet pot that I painted orange (pot colours are usually so ugly!) at the beginning of this month and I repotted the bottom part of the plant adding in some compost and fresh organic dirt.
To my surprise the top of the plant is doing well and growing a new leaf and the bottom of the plant sprouted two babies in its pot! Now I have a little family, all made from the same plant, and it survived because I gave it hope and love. <3
